Our annual inter-house gala draws closer! So as the days count down, we would like to inform you of a few things regarding the gala:
The gala is a compulsory event for all Grade 4 - 7 learners and will take place at the Tonystone Primary Swimming pool unless it is raining heavily. In case of rainy or stormy weather it will take place at the indoor swimming pool at Peachwood Primary School. If it is merely drizzling please pass by Tonystone Primary first to get confirmation as to where the gala is taking place (there will be staff members on duty outside of school).
The gala will take place on 18 February, 2014 at 5:30pm - 8:30pm. Swimmers participating in the event are to meet in the senior primary quad at 4:30pm for a meeting with the house captains. After the meeting they are to get dressed and ready for the event. House mascots must also attend the meeting at 4:30pm and must dress up afterwards into their costumes. Non-swimmers are required to arrive at 5:00pm at the different house stations in order to go through a final war cry practice. The house stations are as follows:
Blake House Station: Junior Primary Quad
Drew House Station: School Field
Kelley House Station: Senior Primary Quad
Radley House Station: Tennis Courts
If the gala takes place at Peachwood Primary, the house helpers will be on duty to send members of their house to the different House Stations.
All swimmers must wear the regulation blue Tonystone swimming costume and a school cap in the colour of their house, with the name of their house written across the side of the cap. These house caps are available at the Tonystone school shop and are compulsory caps for all house swimmers. All swimmers must wear their white and blue tracksuit jackets and blue tracksuit pants over their costumes before the gala begins. Non-swimmers are to wear their House PE T-shirts (or the white ones, if they don't have the black ones) and their blue PE shorts. All attendees of the gala, whether swimmers or no, are to wear either white takkies or the new blue school slops to the gala.
The school tuck shop will be open on the evening for parents to purchase various items of drink and food. Learners will not be allowed to go to the tuck shop during the gala to purchase food. During the halftime break, only pupils will be allowed to purchase food and drink from the tuck shop. If any parents go to the tuck shop during this time, they will be sent back.
We thank you for your co-operation and look forward to enjoying the night with you all!
